The HetoGrow Igbo Diaspora Agriculture Investment Fund (HIDAIF) is designed to empower Igboland's agricultural sector and ensure food security. Our mission is to harness the resources and expertise of the Igbo diaspora, directing them towards sustainable agricultural development in Igboland. With a focus on high-yield crops and agribusiness value chain transformation, we're poised to develop farming and agribusiness to enhance the value of the local agricultural economy by offering reliable diaspora investment channels.

By forging proactive partnerships with local farmers and implementing sustainable farming practices, HIDAIF is committed to transforming the entire agribusiness value chain. Through strategic diaspora investment, we aim to boost the ecosystem from food production, processing, distribution, marketing and employment to improve livelihoods and foster greater economic growth in Igboland.

The HIDAIF also aims to provide a unique opportunity for diaspora investors to participate in collective investment farming schemes, thereby spreading risk while supporting various agribusiness projects in Igboland. Whether you're interested in contributing small amounts regularly or seeking partnership opportunities for your own farming endeavours, HIDAIF welcomes investors of all kinds, including institutional investors looking to make an impact in the agricultural sector.

Why invest in Igboland?

Investing in Igboland holds significant economic promise, as underscored by the USA Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) Special Report of 18/12/64 on Nigeria’s national elections, in which the CIA recognized the Igbos as ‘modernizing and progressive,’ despite historical challenges like the Biafra-Nigeria civil war.

With a large youthful population, the Igbos are one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa with a potential market of over 80 million including the immediate region. Igbo people are found in states like Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Delta Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Benue and Kogi. The Igbo people are also present in other countries, including Cameroon, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea, as well as outside Africa due to migration.

Igbos are known for their rich cultural heritage and strong ethnic identity. Their historical resilience is evident from their post Biafra-Nigeria war recovery. The region’s entrepreneurial spirit and past economic success under the leadership of the Premier of the Eastern region, Dr. Michael Okpara from 1959 to 1966, with growth rates over 9.2%, suggest huge potential for further development. This is especially so with leaders like Governor Alex Otti and the success story of the Geometric Power Plant, which is expected to have a wider positive impact on the region.

A collective economic blueprint by Igbo governors could boost employment and investment, while the diaspora’s involvement could improve GDP and job creation, aiming for balanced individual and community growth.
